Front grills

Hi Guys

After trying to source replacement grills for my "Atlantic" and realising that the top "square headlight grill" is as rare as rocking horse poo! I've decided to spray them with a satin finish paint. Now for my questions:

1) should I sand off what remains of the chrome.

2) What type of paint can I use and does it come in spray can form.

3) Do I need to use a spray ???? as a "key" to allow paint to stick.

Any tips, advice or mild abuse would be welcome

Steve

Chipped or broken sections can also be made good with glass fibre repair kits topped with filler. You can buy paint specially made for spraying on plastics. I sprayed over my original chrome 'effect' finish. This can soon be made right by masking and applying a suitable metal finish spray if you wanted to.

I sprayed mine satin black and I like the non-chrome look as I have nothing else that's chrome on my van

I've gone exactly the opposite and added chrome items to whats already there including respraying rear vents silver. A replacement rear chrome bumper still eludes me though...

Yes I have Kev. Been hunting for someone who could do it for some time. Do ask. Case of buying a new one and plating that, though heaven knows how good they are new. Might need a lot of polishing for them to do it right. Think it has to be triple plating to last?

If the price is right I'll drive across and say hello although don't need a plating excursion to do that ofcourse.... :D
