Hi
This is my first post and I am not sure if you will be able to help with the limited info I can give you - forgive me I am a girl and don't do techy!. My husband has an A reg T25 which was running fine until he did the service. After changing the sparks plugs and leads etc it would not start. He tried various things including putting back on all the old parts but it will not go. Mobile mechanic came out last night and was there 3 hours and it still will not go. I know they charged the battery, checked there was fuel as well as other things but with no joy. Mechanic has gone away to ponder as he is perplexed ! I heard it turn over and go bang a couple of times but will not run. We have a campsite booked this weekend and at the moment can't get there - we may have to use a tent!! Suggestions for the mechanic to try would be great

First thing I'd do is check that the leads are on the right plugs. Did he change the rotor arm too ?. Is it turning over ok but just not firing ?

I will get him to check the leads. It is turning over and not firing. Apparently petrol is getting through as the spark plugs are wet.

Not unless the distributor has been wrongly fitted 180 deg out, like mine then they will look like this...
the leads are reversed but it still works OK
you see this is correct to the diagram

thanks - husband just trying this now. he is desperate to get the van running or he will have to sleep in a tent this weekend and the reason he bought the van is because he hates camping!

Hello,
Youve had the timing 180 degrees out.
Take a deep breath, Hubby too. This will fix quite easily.
Question: Has the pinch bolt (long hexagonal 10 mm) under the distributor been moved.
Question. What engine do you have.
Question. Do you have a 12volt test lamp
Question: Do you have a UK telephone landline with a cordless handset.
A quick response will give a quick reply
Cordialement,

Hello,
In contact by phone,
I'm not worried where the distributor is sitting, its where the rotor is in relation to the pulley notch and the nr 1 piston at tdc.
Once we get all that lined up we will see which lead goes where.
Rule of the day : never move the pinch bolt without marking its position first.
We will not be beaten.
Cordialement,
