I wonder.... hybrid electric/petrol

Hi all
I searched by nothing showed up.

So I pose a question (which I'm sure must have been asked before).
I (like many) have a Petrol/LPG 1900 watercooled engine, but how hard would it be to make it a Petrol/Electric engine?

I'm sure that it would be a better way to get fuel economy.

Obviously there will be many issues, costs, and insurance issues to worry about.

Has anyone done this? How easy is it (would it be) etc?

Cheers

You need to add three things.
- Batteries.
- A generator/motor.
- A transmission which can torque-split between them and control the petrol engine's output to charge the batteries when required etc.

This is a very good explanation of the Prius's setup...
