Hi all

I am trying to find a garage or Club 8090 member that can have a look at my brakes.
I have had a garage look at them who say they are fine and I have tried several times to adjust them myself, not convinced they are working at maximum efficiency or feel safe.

Basically the brake pedal occasionally travels to far until it hits metal not sure what the cause is, recently have had a new master cylinder fitted.

Would the servo be a cause or is there any adjustment at the servo or pedal itself.

I would appreciate any one who can advise a reliable garage who know T25 or if there are any 80 90ers who can help for beer tokens.

I am Milton Keynes area and can travel too you within reason.

Cheers Guys

Jay

When you say "until it hits metal" do you mean the pedal goes to the floor? If yes then there is something seriously amiss. If no then I suspect what you're feeling is the two pistons in the master cylinder touching. This could be caused by air in one circuit of the brakes, and if it didn't do it before the cylinder was replaced then it probably is.
The servo isn't the fault here - it presses on the rod that operates the cylinder and adds force to it, but does not affect its internal operation.

Hi thanks for reply

The pedal is not actually hitting the floor but there is definitely some contact somewhere that makes a noise. Brakes do work just not very well especially when braking hard.

As you say may be air still trapped somewhere I just need someone to have a look that knows what they are doing, they could make an instant diagnosis perhaps and then I will know where the problem lies.

The problem was not cured by replacement of master cylinder so I do not want to throw any more money at it until I am sure of the fault.
Obviously this is urgent as I am driving everyday and I am not happy with it.

Cheers Jay

have you adjusted the rear shoes out each side till they touch the drums then back off a bit till no friction can be felt when spinning with the wheel on and jacked up ? loosen the handbrake cable off first then adjust to 3 clicks after, ?
