high revs sounds like air leak in manifold area, check the nuts that hold the carb on if one is loose it will seep air in. backfiring maybe ignition timing, "pooh" points, plugs, leads etc

ok

its a 2lt air cooled devon camper

revs keep going up and down lika porn start backside....

when idling its hi revs, blip the throttle hard it revs then goes all nice and lo revs very quiet.

getting very frustrated now

there is something amiss with fuel/air mixture. finding it is a proccess of elimination. think carb

could it be a case of blocked jets on the carbs.

has been suggested before, if so what do i do....
