Scotland Trip

We've just returned from and 1800 mile trip to the Orkney Isles and back, (we live nr Cambridge), in our '86 hightop. It was brilliant fun and an excellent vehicle for the trip. We went via Loch Lomond, Tobermoray, Ben Nevis and Loch Ness and back via the Cairngorms and Barnard Castle. Apart from a blown fuse and the fuel overflow leaking when the tank was 'brimmed', the van ran impecably. To be honest, we only stayed in the van for 4 nights as we'd booked hostels before we bought the van in January but we stayed on some nice sites. The Glen Nevis Camping and Caravanning site was very nice, great views being at the foot of Ben Nevis. There were two more T25s on the site that night too. We stayed on a very small site on the A9 at Dunbeath with about 6 hard standing pitches. The owners are just renovating the shower block which will be lovely when it's done. On the return leg, we stayed at a site at Abington, just off the M74 north of Penrith which was lovely and the last night at the Caravan and Camping Club site in Barnard castle which was also very nice and again, great facilities. This was only our 2nd time sleeping in the van but great fun all round. We're off to Dunwich at the end of May where there is also a really good site with great facilities: Cliffhouse Park. Highly recommend that one.
