oil leak from 2.0L fuel pump - ?

Hi all...just a quick question. Can anyone explain to me why my fuel pump on a CU 2.0L 1981 T25 has leaked around 1/2 litre of oil? The oil is coming from the tiny little breather pipe on the fuel pump. The fuel pump is no longer in use as I have a electric one near the fuel tank. It just seems weird that oil is coming out the fuel pump.

Cheers,
Kevin.

Probably because the seal in the pump has failed. Just remove it and fit a blanking plate, one for BMC A series engines fit.

Many thanks for that bigherb..."blanking plates made for BMC A series engines available on ebay...".

I can't find any on eBay except ones made for MINI A SERIES RALLY KITCAR FUEL PUMP BLANKING PLATE M/S eBay Item number: 190524686196...do you reckon that would fit? Out of interest what's going to happen when I remove the old fuel pump? Am I going to get covered in 3Litres of oil by chance? or fuel?

One more thing to help me on my quest, can you tell me what BMC is - is it a Morris Minor?

Cheers again.
Kevin.

Thats the type. The pump is above the oil level so it will only dribble a bit unless you have over filled it with oil.
BMC is the British Motor Corporation. Amalgamation of the companys of Morris Austin Wolesley Riley etc.
