1 thermostat housing bolt won't give it up, two sheared exhaust studs, 2 still to attempt other than that it's coming apart nicely, god there was lot of mud on the top - the microswitch cover was off and completely full and buried in it and the switch was sticking, air leaks on the inlet manifolds, genuine syncro seals on the pulley
Max had away with a bunch of cherry bits, Rob's put his hand up for the big water pipe, so I guess we could take Lee's poorly lump in against some of the gearbox work, make up the missing parts at least

guys, having dropped the tank out and stripped the engine bay i need some opinions. do i fuss a*** about and repaint it all pretty. or do i just treat the metalwork with wax oil and get it back together.
do we need to keep the sound proofing or is it best to thow it all in the bin.
cheers lee.

I'd dinotrol it (or waxoil) no one will see it, as for soundproofing, i'd rather keep it.
My tank is coming out soon, hoping there is not too much rust behind there. Have one small patch bubbling from inside (5mm2) rest is solid, fingers crossed

If you spray the Dinitrol, make sure you cover up. I have splatters on my legs and arms from 3 days ago!!

Would still like to take you up on the offer of the compressor if possible

i gave mine a good going over with the sander (cleaned off the scale), cleaned every thing with meths, the next day rust treated every thing. and then wax oiled it all with a compresser and then gave it a very liberal coat with a brush.
what sort of condishion is the sound proofing in? if it is poor i would scrap it, you could reinstall modern (thin and self addicive) back on from the inside of the van.

Clean, derust, prime repaint waxoyl that's the way I did mine also reused the deadening stuff but if you can get a new equivalent install that. Your hopefully not going to be in there again too quick so may aswell give it a fresh coat of paint Be nice to your van she deserves it

Bin the old sound deadening - it soaks up road salt (I can still taste the dust)...use modern self-adhesive bitumen pads
