Dipstick

Not an auspicious title for the thread! I have a 1.9 petrol automatic. I've built my own camper interior and, when everything is loaded and we're on the road I cannot check oil levels unless I take almost everything out. The tube down which the dipstick slides has been cable-tied to the arm which supports the alternator (sorry I don't have a technical vocabulary) making it impossible to get at it through the number plate flap at the back. My question is, should I remove this cable tie and thread the tube under the supporting arm so that it is accessible via the number plate flap?

I have a scooby conversion and have to open the engine hatch to check the levels! When you say take everything out , you havent built over the access panel have you?

I think he means everything from the boot james as the dipstick can't be reached from the access panel, as it's tied up
