Hi all,

as stated in the title of the post, I'm thinking of getting a T25 Syncro. I used to have a T25 panel van and regret ever selling it. I would like a Syncro as i love T25's but also do a lot of shooting and ferreting so would like something with off-road capabilities. I currently own a Suzuki Samurai as my hunting vehicle, but i can't go camping in it.

The van i am looking at currently is a panel van with 1.9 water-cooled petrol engine.

My questions are........

What would the fuel consumption be like on this? It's the same engine as my old van but obviously it will be worse for economy as it is 4wd?

Are Syncros generally reliable or are they prone to going wrong making them money pits?

Also, what are they like on the road? Are they the same as a normal T25 or are they a bit more sluggish etc??

My 16" Syncro panel van will be up for sale very soon. Syncro are not cheep to run...but very enjoyable. I'm only selling mine as I used it for work every day. Brilliant in the snow we had last winter!!!!

Not cheap to run in what way? Fuel costs or do they break down lots?

A panel van is what I'm after, looking around though i cant believe the cost of them, looks like I'll have to sell some stuff first!

Thanks Jed, i was looking at that van, it's on ebay at the moment. It doesn't seem its as good as it sounds? Do you know anything about it yourself?

Do a LOT of research, look on this syncro forum, There is a few build threads inc one of mine. That will show you things that go wrong on a unrestored van. I think once you do up the cheap van or buy a restored one, running costs aren't that bad. Suppose it's how off road you go, and how much stuff you break having fun.
I think a good rule of thumb is, whatever you buy the van for, have that again for getting everything working. Then probably the same again for all the must have upgrades
