R8/S-Class!!

Hi all,
Just wanted so say how lucky I have been recently! I know some will hate me for this but as a 23yr old I'd thought i'd share a couple of recent experiences that not many people as young as i could have ever dreamed of doing!

3 months into my new job and within the couple of last weeks I have been handed the keys to a 90 grand fully specced up 10 plate S-class and trusted with it for a weekend,(drove london to exeter and back) and just for this eve borrowed a brand new audi r8 spyder! And can I just say, after living with a syncro for the past year........ holy mother of god!

The S-class was just simply the best piece of engineering I have ever been around. Its sheer size was just overwhelming. It made its 18's look like 13's. Inside was cream leather, piano black wood, suede galore. The best combination of luxury materials, I want it in my van! It had night vision, 3 t.v's, cameras everywhere, you name it, it had it. But the best thing by far, was the 'distronic plus', its cruise control, that uses radar to sense its surroundings. On the motorway I set it to waft along at 80, and when a car pulls out infront of me, it brakes the car and slows it down to a preset distance, and when the car moves out of my way, it automatically accelerates me back up to 80. It will even bring the car to a stop, then in traffic pull away and stop again. Im sure most of you have seen this on tv etc, but in reality its works fantastically! I even began to trust it alot, and didnt touch anything other than the wheel for over 100 miles. I know this takes alot of 'fun' from driving but when your in a car like this it makes so much sense! O yeah and i almost forgot about the massaging seats... well they speak for themselves. This car, to a youngen like me, that hasnt really been in a wide variety of cars just set new standards that may ruin every other car i drive

Except for the R8.... I only went in it for a couple of hours, and didnt really go for it as i could get myself into a lot of trouble the law + losing my job/life!, plus i have no idea where any good roads are as i mainly look in fields for muddy tracks! The two best things about this car are the incredible looks, and the soundtrack to that V8. It was like god pretending to be a tiger! It wasnt slow either! I went out with a colleague who is almost as young as me, and the looks we got were of his dad must be realllly loaded of he has just won the lottery! was quite cool, but i felt like a bit of a knob compared with the looks of the awesome syncro. (Not that i really care but you know the feeling!)

So, the plan Ive hatched are to steal the whole interior of the merc, and the v8 from the audi (drivetrain too). Add that to the mix of the syncro's multivan set-up, and 4x4 qualities and hey presto! Ill be happy with that. Not sure the merc/audi press office will be though....

Damn I'm getting jalous! I'm 23 too, wish i could try some quick cars like that some time. Closest I'll ever get will probably be the Audi A3 quattro tdi my dad might be buying in a couple of years

When talking about quattro's... There is a guy on the samba that got a Audi sport quattro rally car for a weekend back in the 80's, now that's awesome!

Keep us informed if you get some more fun cars to try

Ha no i wish i was the stig!
Well, there isnt much to do t25's tbh but as thats what ive been driving over the last year or so it was quite interesting (in my mind) how different and far some of these new vehicles have come! We had the new g-wagon in today which i loved, but it had a rather garish red leather interior and cost well over 60 grand which i thought was a bit over the top!
Another thing that I love about the syncro is no matter the condition or age it has so much more character than some new cars. A lot of the new stuff seem like such tools and I appreciate them mostly due to looks and err, how fast they can go. But i could never spend a serious amount of money on a new car. I'd much rather have 10 old cars that i'd love for very different reasons, and respect how happy they make you feel. Especially when you make it through some sticky situations that leave £££ land rover owners scratching there heads because their esp and electric torque distributors etc etc cant touch good old mechanical diff locks.

Lucky bugger. Nothing like having a fast, top spec motor that you don't have to pay for.
My Mrs used to work for Mercs 'back in the day' we used to love hooning about with the top down, ICE up, gangsta stylee!
Didn't even have to pay for the gas. Glorious!!

I hope my sons are able write as eloquently as you
when they reach your age.
Well done fella.
You've driven those motors and come to the decision that they would be best
chopped, and set free in the embodiment of a T25/T3 SYNCRO (well that's what I got from it)

It gives me GREAT HOPE!
