Hi,

I'm looking to get lap belts fitted in the back of my van just to stop passengers getting thrown around on bendy roads.

I've purchased a set of belts from just kampers and just wonderd if any one had any pictures of where they should be mounted.

I've had a quick look and there don't seem to be any existing mounting points. I think my van is a converted panel van so I guess they wouldn't have seat belt mounts.

Also what is the best way of fixing the seat cushion to the rock and roll bed? I have the metal frame type with a mesh: http://www.volkswares.co.uk/#/rock-n-ro ... 4539955580

I'll be getting it done at garage but wanted to find out the best solution before getting the work done. I guess I'll need to buy some mounting plates for the belts. What would be a reasonable price for a garage to do the work?

Hi,

To fit lap bealts is very simple. You need to drill holes through the floor (four in total) where the belts need to be mounted (this would be at the sides and middle of the rear seat, roughly where the back of the seat meets the bit you actually sit on).

You then need a strengthening plate (Brickwerks do these) which you fit underneath the floor. This stops you ripping the bolt out as your passenger is flung forward in an emergency stop scenario!

If you are supplying all the parts I wouldn't pay more than an hours labour to get this done - its really not a tricky job. They may charge you more if they weld the strengthening plates in, although structurally this isn't necessary.

With regards to cushions, I've got a little flap that goes over the top of the bed frame and poppers back on itself. the bottom one is held on mainly by gravity at the moment, although looking for a good way to make this more permananet.

I stitched ties underneath the cushions at relevant places and this keeps them secure. In your case you can just tie these to the frame. Bows are fine.
