i am asking a quick question as i have a few hours to make the decision.

i have been offered a 1996 AAZ golf as an engine doner for my syncro.
i am aware this car has the immobiliser built in,

question is is it too much grief to get around the immobiliser

and has anyone used the much later AAZ in a T3

thanks in advance

Peter

I have a 95 golf with an AAZ.

You can get around the immobilizer very easily. It only controls the current to the IP. You dont need to install that in ur Syncro.

This engine has another fault that the woodruff key in the crank sprocket slips and you get bent valves. So make sure it has never happened and if it has then it has been repaired properly with new uprated TDI sprocket and one way alternator pulley.
Its a great engine other wise!!!

Cheers.
