coolant light

my coolant light on the dash is flashing at me constantly from when i turn the ignition is on. I have coolant in the system so what does it mean ?

It means search on the forum, there have been 2 or three posts on this subject this week.
Or read the Wiki.

Check the tank inside the engine bay is FULL. (not the tank behind the number plate)
Check the sensor in the tank.
Check the wires to the sensor.

Could be a knacked sender.Or a knacked low water sensor that screws into your header tank.

Take the plug off the sensor, bridge it with a short piece of wire, switch the ignition on, the light should flash 5 or 6 times and then go out. If that works and all levels are as they should be (i.e. as Tonytech says) then you have a sensor fault.
