I'm sure this has probably been asked many times but my camper is very slow to start. It turns over and fires slowly, not too bad when it's cold but gets worse when it's warm and will take several attempts when trying to restart when hot after a long journey. It's got a well charged battery and a new glowplug relay, I've never used the cold start/ choke could this have something to do with it.

take the earth strap off the battery and clean it both ends, and the one on the gearbox nose mount, and if fitted the one off the engine.... and then check and clean the pos connections from the battery and to the starter motor.

if that dont improove it, you may just need a recon starter motor........

Thanks, I'll try that and see what happens.

Does the starter motor run rapidly (normally) or is it slow?
When it comes older and bearings come loose, the stator starts to toutch the rotor, and the whole system comes lazy. This thing happend to me some year ago,I could barely get the engine running. I changed the st.motor and everything was ok again.

I always say this but fit a non return valve between the pump and filter lots on here have and feel the benefit :) also use the cold start it does help.
