Eliminating the heat exchangers on a 2.0 air cool?

Hi All
Just putting my T25 2.0 air cool back together. As its sat for a couple of years I'm not sure the heat exchangers will be working etc. It has a propex type heater in the cab though and I'm sure I read somewhere about eliminating the heat exchangers and juts running the propex in the cab whilst driving? Sounds feasible I suppose? So presumably I can just disconnect any pipework on the heat exchangers? Can the heat exchanger be completely removed so you just have bare header pipes? Its so long since I've been underneath the bus I cant even remember what they look like or how they are connected.

If they are in good nick then leave them on you can wire closed the flaps to stop draughts (and exhaust if not in good nick) in the cab. Fit J tubes if thay are the usual crumbling mess

Didn't know you could even buy J pipes for a 2ltr Aircooled. 1600 bug type engine yes. Must be a recent addition to the fold.

From memory around £200, turbo Thomas's are stainless where as the la performance are mild steel from memory
