Copperslip on gearbox filler plug?

Hi all,
I've just been doing a pre season check on our Gina, and I decided to change the gearbox oil for some 75W90 GL4/5 semi. I read that the filler plug was a swine to get out, and so it was. Two foot of mine and borrowed extensions and a 17mm hex drive and impact driver plus a half hour and a bit of heat, victory was mine.
I'm letting the oil drain overnight, but I'm wondering whether I should Copperslip the plug before I re-fit it?
Do'es anyone know if the copperslip will react with the oil or the plug and casing due to them being dissimilar metals?
Thanks in advance :ok

I copperslip them, or you can use ptfe tape
corrosion shouldn't be a problem if regularly oil changed, problem is a lot of them have been in for 20+ years

I think you can get new plugs too, probably Brickwerks, might be an idea if the socket has been damaged

In my (and yours?) T25 the filler plug (and the drain plug) is cone-shaped,so if you twist it tight enough,it does not need a copperslip.

Which reminds me Aidan, two things that amused me when we were refitting that gearbox in Manchester. I just said to Jonno "We'd better just check filler plug is loose before it goes in" - was finger loose complete with copperslip. :rofl

Then to top it all, we were about to fit a new release bearing (original rattled like a rattly thing) and blow me THAT had been changed too. Just amused both of us....

filler plug was loose cos there's no oil in the box, obviously, when delivered :ok
