diesel quality

Anybody noticed the quality differences from pump to pump
Ive been buying mine from Morrisons in C**ley thought nowt a bowt it until I filled up in Ingleton with the shell max/ super watever.. after that fill, it felt smoother had better aceleration mind you it was 98p a liter

--tis possible me van runs better on Shell or Esso petrol--but Tescos is cheaper so I stick wiv that--the supermarkets insist they buy their petrol from the same place as Shell etc--so who knows?---

don't know how much truth is in this but i was once told that all the fuel comes from the same depots just that an esso tanker will add their additives and shell theirs and its these that make the difference but the basic raw fuel is all from the same tanks.

That's pretty much spot on. The only quality issues you are likely to encounter are contaminants getting into the holding tank at the filling station. These contaminants could be "fuel additives" or they could be crud. Don't discount the placebo effect, if you believe it's doing the van good to have expensive diesel then perhaps it is

i used to drive a petrol tanker for GULF, we used to fill repsol, texaco, sainsburys,save, stations aswell as our own. sometimes when we were low on product we would fill up at BP in kingsbury then deliver it to gulf stations etc. its all from the same place(inner earth) after all, i think they will not mix optimax etc as they can be done by trading standards because you pay more for it.. i never paid for deisel those days, could do with some now thiough, that chip oil stinks !!!!!
