Random loss of power

Hi all,

I've had a rummage around the forum to see if i can find anything that matches my problem... but to no avail yet!

I took my T25 (1915cc) petrol van to the mechanics as it suddenly lost power. I could only get it to about 20 miles per hour... They changed spark plugs and did a bit of a tune-up and it seemed to go like the clappers again. Yesterday i was out and about in it and it suddenly did it again. I was on a norrow winding country lane and so kept going to find somewhere to stop safely. After a few hundred yards it kicked back into life. I have no idea where to look for the problem. i've mooched around the enginebay looking for a loose wire etc but all seems intack and engine starts first time! Any ideas, or am i looking for a needle in a haystack?

cheers

It could be a fuel problem rather than an ignition one. Failing electrics tend to stop the engine completely rather than let it keep running. Have you changed the fuel filter on the outlet of the tank lately?

you can get them from Halfords....about a quid.

it's by the tank on the drivers side.. there should only be one
if that don't fix it then check the brass gauze filter in the carb itself

Hi all, i found the fuel filter, and changed it. it seems to be running much better - so i guess i'll just keep chugging along until it either does it again, or doesn't!

Many thanks for the advice...
