Oil Synthetic or Mineral?

This topic must be somewhere, but not finding it, old age don't come alone!

I have just serviced the van, had a few hiccups and fixed a number things along the way

I replaced the oil with a diesel synthetic 10-40, ready for the summer. Is the synthetic oil okay for these older vehicles? We have to consider the adverse climate conditions here, winter hits down to =30 =40 for long periods, summer up to +25/30 for short periods etc (you get the idea). I am just trying to find out which is best.

Our regular car uses diesel synthetic 5-40 grade during winter, 10-40 for the summer, no problems!

Thanks and noted, just so many threads and not enough hours in the day to go hunting sometimes

Mmm an interesting article, which i can relate with regarding the smoky start during winter months, but then again we hit the -20 -30 -40 mark a lot, so with this bus as old as she is, i think it quite acceptable on the initial start up.

I think next oil change onwards will be with mineral oil.

Thanks :ok
