I'm looking to fit a leisure battery behinf the drivers seat. What cable size and rating is needed to connect it in a split chargeing system?. Is it ok to mount it so far from the other battery and alternator. Dont want to use wrong cable and have it melt on me.

Yes my battery to split is at either end of the van..use 8mm cable minimum from the Alt to the split then to the battery
there's less loss if you use a thicker cable
then suitably wired (4mm) and fused (30+ amps) from the LB to the control panel for leisure loom
