what are these wires for please

sorry if this should be in electrical section but its wires from a camper....!!

got an 81 devon, stripped off the angled metal roof sections that go from roof to sides and uncovered these wires in the rear passenger side.

the red and black coming from the right are coming across from the drivers side via the fibreglass crossover, presume this used to go to the devon light in the rear??
Are the other thin wires for the old original vw courtesy light?

whats the thick brown wire

does that make sense to anyone!?!?!??!"= :idea

also do i need to put any lighting on a seperate feed like a ring main in a house? how do i work out what fuse to use?

Hi, have to say I agree with you ref both sets of wires. I have a stripped out Devon in our workshop at mo, will have a good look next time im there (Sat morning)... :wink:

The thin ones look like the original courtesy light wires, they should be Red, Brown and Brown with White trace.

so there are 3 wires to the light?

Yes, red power supply, brown earth, brown/white earth switching through the door contact switch.
