i've come to a bit of a stop on this one!!

my heat exchangers were both fubar so ive managed to source some and thought i'd have a go changing them

2 of the studs had had it completely so i managed to get the remains of the bots off to get the heat exchangers off and i'm now left with



ive tried welding a bolt on (first one was stainless , heat to the base, and brute force and ignorance and can't get the ****** off
any ideas? or anywhere near stafford area i could take it to to be done, we want to take my little un camping for the first time in a few weeks so thought i'd do this and get the van ready

Heres a wiki entry on it, I would guess if you have tried the welding and heat technique (did you use plus gas?) then your onto drilling out technique.

i'd run out of plus gas but ordered some more (should have before) as i just remembered how good it is!! that along with rust buster, and see if they help shift it first!

Have you tried a really strong pair of mole grips - after Plus-gas? This worked on mine but yours does look like it is well stuck!!

yep, been using my trusty mole grips all along

plus gas and rust buster stuff arrived today.....but still no shifting

time for the 7mm drill bit and 8mm tap?

Before resorting to the drill, try heating the cylinder head with a blowlamp, in the region of the screw-studs. This will expand the amuminium and hopefully will expand it sufficiently, relative the the studs, to loosen them enough to remove, whilst the cylinder head is still hot.

been doing loads of that matey, just not budging in the slighest!

don't have one
have never done it before so i was really hoping it wasn't going to come to that!

Not as bad as it sounds
plus there's a bit of room for amateur error..
