hi there. i am wondering, does a dremel cut the mustard where the grinder and a mop disc doesn't reach? i can use a wire wheel/grinding stone on a drill but are there small mop discs that would go on a dremel or something? trying to think up some ideas.

I use the dremmel small cutting discs when i am struggling to get in awkward areas, they work very well but don't last that long and are very brittle.Best use saftey goggles.I also find small grinding wheels helpfull but they dont last that long aswell.

The problem with them is that they use a LOT of air. I have a 200 litre 3hp compressor powering mine and it is no good for big areas. I use crushed glass in mine. Its safer for your lungs than sand and doesn't cause rusting like sand sometimes does. It was like £4 for a 25kg bag. Some people use play sand that you buy in toy shops, but it has to be bone dry.
Something like this could be ok for small areas if you have a 2hp compressor.

I've been using a black and decker power file. Worth its weight in gold and with 40 grit belts make light work of grinding welds/removng rust.
One of these:

VERY good tool that - great for linishing down welds too.
Have to say though, sometimes you just have to cut more than you'd like away just to get at the work.

The black and decker powerfile is about £50. I got mine for nowt from argos by using my collected nectar points though.
Belts are cheap on ebay too. I just got 20 for about £8.
