Whilst checking my engine i noticed BY CHANCE ! the bolts attaching my drive shaft had worked themselves lose , ive recently had a new drive shaft fitted so ashumed this would not be somthing i needed to check, these are the allan bolts im talking about, should these have locking washers on them ? or should they be fixed with some lock tight ? has anyone else had this problem ? Im in two minds weather to take it back to the people who fitted the new drive shaft, Meantime my advice to evreybody is check your drive shaft it could save you a lot of money.

The bolts can also be 8mm splined too..Which TBH are better than allen bolts as they dont round off so easily.

Definately should have locking washers on them - these are on sale for pennies at Brickwerx. Well done on spotting they were coming loose - I didn't and it cost me a new CV joint as well as having to pull the hub shaft to remove the remainder of the last bolt. Personally I prefer the splined bolts to the Allen heads - better grip. Tighten to the correct torque helps too. There are lots of threads on this topic and some useful info on the Wiki.
