Its sure misfiring. I'd check tappets carefully first. Sounds like its blowing past a valve to me - that chuf-chuf sound. Other noise sounds like a drained tappet - again same area. If you want to pinpoint it exacty, get a longish stick of wood or long screwdriver, put one end against your ear and touch parts of engine case till you find it.

the chiff chiff sound reminds my of a time when I had a spark plug leaking on a bay I had. put your hand by each plug and feel for leaks.

its hard to hear what it is from a video ( but its loads better than a phone call " ere, what this noise")
first listen had me thinking something fouling the alternator fan blade...... but then listened again and heard the "chiff chiff" noise too....
need lower revving sound bite i think.....

Hi
My guess would be along the lines of Kevs suggestion, the higher pitched metallic sound does sound like a flywheel thats been tapped with something else metallic.

My other car makes a similar noise. Its coming from the alternater, think the bearing is on its way out. Can you isolate the area the sound comes from?

What could be be hitting the flywheel ?. I have changed the starter recently and the sound was there before, and still is.
Ill check all the plugs for tighness this weekend and the leads to and see if that gets shot of the misfire. I did wonder if the low down vibration was a bearing or at least something vibrating, just cant loacate it. Bit of wood, ear and noise hunting this weekend it is.
How would I cure a 'dry ' tappet ?

OK you didn't say that in your first post.... take the belt off and and start it up for a minute
just to see if the noise goes away then you can rule out water pump and alternator
To my mind it sounds like some thing that is spinning fast, catching or worn, or vibrating... a constant sound
I can list some things that spring to mind
Oil pump worn, alternator, water pump, flywheel, crankshaft, camshaft, distributor drive, (all possible bearing failure)
It could also be vibration
Push rod tube guard is loose, exhaust, engine mount.
very metallic sound I would say.

Thinking about it, which I have a lot.... when the engine is revving the vibrating noise goes away, it only seems to be audible when ticking over, soon as you give it revs, it goes.
Im going to hunt it down this weekend for sure.
