My T25 horn has packed up and I need to replace it. I bought a standard Halfords replacement car horn but it does not work on the van and I'm wondering if there is a difference in the way power is supplied to the horn on the T25- cos I made the Halfords horn work on my car. It seems that a motorcycle horn will work on my van!
Can anyone explain this? And can anyone recommend a replacement horn that emits a decent noise?

Voltage drop perhaps? Test the voltage at the horn compared to at the battery. I noticed this on a van some time ago and there just wasn't enough oomph left to make it go parp. Perhaps the T25 horn wasn't what was wrong.

I had similar problem with corroded wires to the horn. The position of the horn means its get alot of crap in and around it. I replaced my first horn and it only lasted 6 months because it corroded to fast, I then refiited and tucked the new one up closer to the underside out of the spray and stuff and its not rusting yet.

Don't forget to check the earth connection on the steering column. Take
off the plastic covers on the steering column to check the earth.

I found that a motorcycle horn works OK on it, but not a car horn, so I wondered if there is any difference in the way the power is delivered to the horn.
Should a bog standard replacement horn work OK on a T25 then?

in theory, the horn should work, on a t25 the horn has a permanant live feed and the switch, or horn push, allows the current to flow to earth, i don't know about the car tho! it is also possible that the motorcycle horn does not need asmuch power so will work. the most important thing is that if you connect a relay accross the terminals, can you hear it click?? if yes, pull the wiring up to behind the top grille and install a set of these available from halfwits etc for about £15 nice and loud!!
