Hi All,

Wow. That's a lot of internal splines - looks like twice as many as a torx. Never seen anything quite like that.

A quick google suggests there is a 12-pt internal spline, and VAG have used 'em in the past...

You'll want something like one of these...

but you're going to need to figure the size out...

Some new bolts to the parts list for reassembly, methinks!

for how cheap you can get the kits these days not a problem! My set was over £200 but I can get silly amounts of torque on um and air guns!!!

I was thinking more of those splines not standing up to much torque after a few years of 'orribleness and some numpty trying the wrong thing a few times...

But then - I've spent today glaring at various bog-standard hex and allen bolts with heads apparently made of furry brown cheese... Not even Citroen manage to use such lousy bolts.

the 12 spline take more torque than allen bolts!

Got a set of the splines for £16 from bennets, included various torx and hex bits, worked a treat except on the one i tried a torx bit on yesterday, rounded on the first turn so a new bolt needed there but strength of a bear got it out. cheers for your help!!!

Anyone got any idea when I can buy some from?

Failing that i shall replace them with standard HEX, but does any one know any good bolt stockists? so far I can but them in a 1000 but that seemed 1 or 2 too many. would stainless steel bolts hurt?

Got new hex bolts here just say what size you want.

You'll find there'll be at least one good fastener stockist near you - I bought some yesterday from my local one. 50 each of three different length M6 bolt, 100 nuts, 25 nyloc nuts, 100 washers & 50 lock washers - change from a fiver. They'll sell any quantity over the counter - even onesy-twosy - but they price by the 100 on the website. Probably because they'd work out to a penny and a snidge each... I like to keep a stock, because sod's law says you'll always need 'em at the most inconvenient time possible. I _hate_ having to reuse manky bolts that were touch-and-go whether they'd come out... Big tub of copaslip, and a smear on every single fastener you put back in.
