looks like your water pump is leaking.
I think brickwerks have the big hose.

Ah now will that mean a new water pump as the van runs fine but just drips water, or is there any seals that it could be. i will give brickworks a ring. thank you jen

Which one is it? They are two different hoses as shown http://www.busdepot.com/details/water19.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (american site)

Simon at the Brickwerks was going to get them re-made in silicone but I don't think they have come through as yet.

Looking from the expansion bottle the nearest pipe from the lower thermostat housing is

025-121-103C

Sadly this seems to be obsolete

Contact spannerboy, he may have one 2nd hand

And the other one from the upper thermostat housing is

025-121-073E

http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_act_shop.p ... try_GB.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or
http://www.status-vw.co.uk/shop/en-gb/dept_268.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (bottom of the page, cheaper but I'd ring to see if they have stock)
or again contact spannerboy he has some 2nd hand pipes

Talc is a way to find where a leak is coming from.

They both go from the bleed valve to the thermostat housing. Busdepot is american so shipping will be prohibitive. IF it is the obsolete pipe you need then 2nd hand is your best bet.

The pipes are not the same so make sure you get the right one. If I was you I would look at your pipes and get the part number off them, they will be somewhere.

Check the water pipes that join the water pump. If the gasket has gone on this pipe it will leak onto the oil filter and drip off the point your have shown. I had exactly the same symptoms. May also be your pump ,as previously suggested.

gaskets come in gasket sets.... or with new pumps
I've used cornflake packet gaskets before now but the proper gasket would be better

And to get to the punp or the pipe gasket you will need to drop the water pump pulley off to get thatthings better, no great problem though. If it's the pipe that runs behind the main pulley wheel thats a bit more of a pain as the pully wheel has to come off to fit the pipe, still not a big job though. :)
