Just measured mine for you.

The measurements are from the shoulder on the handle that butts up against the dipstick tube when fully inserted

Total length of dipstick = 387mm

Length to centre of upper fill notch = 331mm

Length to lcentre of ower fill notch = 359mm

The dipstick has two twists in it, one above the notches and one below. I assume this is to prevent the oil witness smudging on the dipstick tube when it is removed

Me too!
So I changed the engine oil, measure the correct amount in, then looked to see where it is on my dipstick - thats what i use as my "full" level (courtesy of Oldiebutgoodie :ok )

SOrry for hijacking this post. I've just got my AAZ engine in my van and I want to make sure I put the correct amount of oil in before I try to start it. I have read 4.5 litres as the correct amount. Is this after I have filled my new oil filter & fitted it or does this 4.5 litres include whatever I put into the new oil filter? I may be being pedantic, but I'vereadhorrible things can happen with too much oil in. Also, I have modded the dipstick tube so i can fit the JX dipstick, should I thus be able to use the old JX dipstick markings? Thanks in advance,Vandad.

Kevtherev. Thanks very much. I've just cleaned it so it looks nice when it starts at the weekend. I've spent nearly a year putting an AAZ engine in. Hope it works. Vandad
