I have read Wiki info but just wanted to be sure before proceeding,
1985 Early Caravele Camper. Got some merc alloys for it and just wanted to check that i had got the wheel spacer / nuts / tyres conundrum right before opening my wallet. Wheels are 7.5 J x 16 H2 E.T. 41 and two have good 215 / 55 R16 tyres fitted.
What size spacers do i need and are these just for the front and what length bolts do i need? Also should i stick with the same size tyres for the whole set or try and get some a different ones to go on the back 225 / 55 R 16 or go smaller on front 205 / 55 R 16?Thanks for your help, nick. :ok

Take a look in the wiki and take a read of this - http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpec ... ltwhls.htm

Which Merc alloys have you got (ML 5 spokes?).

Thanks, Dunno know what they are called but are the type that used to be fitted to the 300s, late eighties i think proper retro. Large alloy bit in middle and 10 holes around the outside. I was thinking 10mm spacers but just wondered what tyre size people would suggest? Will probably end up buying bolts from brickwerks. Cheers, nick.

10 mm spacers will put your ET in the right area (31).
Have they got 12 or 14 mm stud holes.
Check the nut fitting (conical or taper).

What's the centre bore? - This is usually okay on Merc rims.

For the front you can use the stud conversions from Brickwerks which make it really simple.
For the length you'll have to measure the thickness of the wheel mounting face, add the 10mm for the spacers and then add between 14 - 17 mm for the nut. I think the standard wheel bolt is about 34 mm.

The stud holes have been drilled out to 14 mm and i'm hopefull that the centre bore is going to be big enough without getting those adjusted. I am going to get it up on axle stands tomorrow to check and do measurements for bolts / nuts. Thanks for your help. nick.
