I have had a good search but can't find out how to check gearbox oil level. I have a few very small leaks so I want to check to see how much I'm loosing. Thanks

More informed people will be along, but when i filled mine i filled it to the level of the filler. Maybe you could get your pinkie in  and see if you can feel oil?

your about right there lloyd, should be just below the filling hole on the side of the gear box, when i drained mine down (i can hear andrew from here) it took 4&1/4 l to fill back up.

where is it leaking from? there is a seal that can leak on the output flange (the part that the cv joint blots too) this is what this is where mine was leaking from. not too hard too fix just a bit of a fiddle.

It's is coming from where the prop is bolted on and about 3 or 4 inches further back where there is a join in the casing.

an even easyer fix then, drain the oil, undo the prop, take off the bash bars, loosen the gear box mounts not compleatly so that the gear box can drop down eneough so you can get to all the bolts, surport the box with a trolly jack. remove the nuts and take off the nose cone, clean every thing up, i used break cleaner, then reinstall with a good quality flange sealant. the bolts are to be tourqued up to something like 18ftlb look in the bently to confirm this. fill up with a good quality gear box oil.

should take a couple of hours to do.

and I can of course supply you a new mud lipped seal for that front flange, they've got a bit pricey but still a 1/3 the price of the original
10/1 it's been done with a 50p seal previously
