hi folks,
im facing a bit of connundrum, tonight iv'e been offered a 1984 westie hi top, looks in very good condition (only seen photos but other than the dreaded seam rot along the sill on the fridge side looks tidy) . has captain seats with adjustable arm rests full looks very good condition westie interior working eber double glazed windows etc. only downside i can really see is its not the original colour and was resprayed about 4 years ago in what looks something similar to the old austin pageant blue and its only got the 1.6 n/a engine fitted. the engine is a replacement and was recently fitted, its done about 110 thou miles as the old one was using a lot of oil and had covered 357000 kms.now the current owner is looking for 2750 euros but i reckon theres scope for a haggle. i know i'll need to put a couple of panels into it but shouldn't be too difficult as the metal around it looks pretty good and i have access to a welder and a workshop. what i'd like to know if any of you knowledgable people could help me is how difficult would it be to fit a jx engine or an aaz engine into one of these old n/a buses and do you peeps think it is a good price for a high top (i prefer pop tops as there easier to park in carparks) and what price do you think it would be worth with the work done.not that i want to sell it on but i already have 3 of these buses and it might be a distinct possibility one will have to go at some point. any help suggestions or advice good or bad greatfully recieved many thanks for taking the time to read this drivel
cheers mel.
