Fitting a window to a sliding door

Hi just need some advive re my sliding door window, I have new sliding door but it came off of T25 van so no window..I want to fit my window to my new door and I will obviously need to cut a new hole (aperture) I just wonder how much bigger the aprture will need to be cut than the window glass obviously allowing for the seal etc....any advive would be gratly appreciated

Id scrawl round the window, add the seal thickness at its root ,then add about a mil and youll be about there , depends on the seal type as well but the above should suffice

thats ok remember you can take off but not add on. if its tight then ease the corners a touch, pop to your local tyre fitters and get a tablespoon! of lube that they fit tyres with.

you swapping the window from old to new??? if so take the window out draw round old hole onto cardboard then cut the cardboard = spot on template!

No unfortunately I dont have the old door, my van is currently fitted with a side door with no window , so unfortunately no template...I'll take loads of photo's and post them on here...I just hope there are none of me crying when I get the measurement wrong Im not going to attempt till next week though

A wood butcher once told me to measure twice,cut once but before cutting measure again twas good advice

I thinks its going to be a case of measure once, measure again....scratch head a few times measure again ,quick coffee, measure again....lunch....measure again.. coffee.....get the jigsaw out....measure again and then sod it cut it before it gets dark, or I lose my nerve.

I had a friend who worked for Autoglass do both my windows in a van for £50. He said aboslutely to not use a jigsaw. He marked out the correct size aperture, knocked a hole near the edge with a cold chisel, and went at it with tin snips.
