Which part of the hinge?
If it's just the bearing then brickwerks sell them
Just noticed that on the brick yard you state it's a LHD hinge. It's a rather important bit to miss out
I recenltly bought a spare early one from ebay last week and collected it. The ebay seller gave me a LHD early hinge at first.
His name is Paul and is based near Preston, Lancs (used to be puffingtheherb)

He 100% has one even though he hasn't listed it, and it's in good nick
Not sure what your definition of cheap is considernig they are obsolete

The hinge is centred around a bolt that goes through the main part of the unit which in effect has two fingers , in middle of these two fingers is a small circular thick "washer" with a lip on one side this is broken.

Do you mean the cam?

Part number is 211-843-371A and may be available cheaper from your local VW commercial dealer
If not can you see the offending part on this blow up of the hinge?

Tis the cam indeed- thanks and for the ebay tip- may be sensible to get one of ebay and keep an old one for spare and re-build it. cheers for wisdom.
