CU Distributor

Evening all, quick bit of history.
I have changed to duel solex PDSIT carbs from a single webber on my 2.0l AC CU engine. The distributor is the same, but I did take it off and put it back on, and the crank had moved... so I found TDC, but then the dizzy cannot physically go on properly, vac advance gets in way of the tinware. I tried turning the dizzy body 180degrees, but keeping the rotor arm in place, so that it was 180degrees out from the marking on the distributor body, but no joy there. So I turned the crank another 360 degrees, so that I could fit the dizzy at 180degrees out while keeping the marking and rotor arm inline so I now have it set up in the same position as the one on this page, and I have moved it fractionally CW and CCW untill I got best running I can out of it, but still no continuous idle.
I could put my foot down and it would keep her going, but now I have the oposite problem, which is bizarre considering I have not altered anything, i touch the accelerator she dies, but she is barely idling, a sort of pathetic and slow idle, that very quickly dies..... hopefully playing about with the idle screw on the carb will sort that out, but I am not that convinced due to it dying now at acceleration
Another problem I have is fuel coming out of the left exhaust (got one of those cheap EMPI duel pipe jobbys on there) Again this could be the carbs over fueling, I think it is firing on all 4, but with the timing most probably being out, I guess it might not be burning it up proper.
I currently have a Single vacuum (SVDA) distributor, one source has told me that I can't run the engine with the SVDA and I need to source a Double vacuum DVDA, another source tells me that I can run it with the SVDA, and I cannot run a DVDA unless I also get the ignition module and idle speed stabiliser.
Would appreciate some opinions & advice on this. I'm going to use the rest of the light to tinker with the carb settings, but I shall be back shortly!
Cheers,
Billy
