Caravan Club Sites

I just reading the WIKI and saw camping sites to avoid in the WIKI.
Anyone else stayed at these sites. Last year when doing a scotland tour I tried to stay in 2 of these as they where local to my end of day journey driving around the coast. Both sites talk about snotty towards me.
One wouldn't let me in as I was 5min past the deadline.
The other I drove into the office was closed. I thought acceptable to pay in the morning as most campsites do. The warden came out with the guard dog and practically almost set it on me whislting inspecting my van (ain't a wreck) saying we don't deal with your kind & this behavouir.
Hardly welcoming

Among some people there seems to be a heirarchy for camping units and the caravan fraternity sometimes frown on tenters or even campervans. Ive found the caravan club a bit starchy at times and likewise their sites can indeed be a bit regimented, rows and rows of neatly parked white vans in close proximity to each other. I think thats how many caravanners like it, neat and tidy with clear rules, and fair enough I suppose, so thats why the CC is what it is. Dont get me wrong there's nothing worse than all night noisy dickheads on a campsite but my personal dislike of caravans is because they tend to get used like a home away from home. Im always surprised to see caravans all over France with people sitting inside them when everyone else is outside. That doesnt apply to everyone, but of all campers its the white box brigade who are happy to live inside their units, even when the sun is beating down. I reckon thats also why they are ok with being pitched virtually on top of each other - the solid walls separating them from the world. i hate that too.....and im starting to rant now!
Loads of sites elsewhere so plenty you'll like ,im sure.

Thanks for your reply.
My really enjoyed my Scotland tour. Though if anyone asked me the one blot on the journey was the way I was treated at entrance by CC.
I understand their are rules. Though often at work there are rules and my view id that you go on hoilday you try & get away from regimented rules to relax.
I have joined the camping and Caravan club and they are far more nicer and you get good discounts as well!

I can vouch for the Camping and Caravanning Club too, especially the smaller certificated sites which are normally just a few spaces and basic facilities on a farm.

We used to be in the CC when we had a caravan, and while we found their sites and facilities to be excellent, there's no getting away from the fact that there is a lot of regimentation stuff going on and I found it a bit wearing at times and, dare I say it, some degree of snobbery too.
We've joined the Caravan and Camping club too and look forward to seeing what their sites are like.
