upper wishbone problems

Hi Everyone. My tyre blew on way to work, tread great appart from the very inside of the tyre/almost the side wall. there was nothing obvious prior to this felt through the steering and it drove straight and braked straight. Checked out wishbone and there is play in the upper bush so need replacing but wondering if this would cause the tracking to be that far out? also when the van is parked on one side of the van the top of the wish bone where the two legs join i.e. nearest the upper steering ball joint is levelish with top of the shocker ( the side where the tracking is ok) and the driver side the top of the wish bone is an inch or two lower than the top of the suspension .Any ideas? I will put new bushes in tommorow and get the trackin set up again but it seemed odd. note these tyres have done about 16000 miles and everything was ok last MOT. Could it be just the bushes?????

The tracking or more exactly the camber wanders if the bushes are shot.

We have these fitted ... http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=s ... gory_id=86

Collapsed upper wishbone rubbers allow the top of the wheel to lean inwards, this is called negative camber. Excessive negative camber will wear the inside of the tyre, as yours has.
Camber and tracking are interconnected anyway, adjusting the camber will directly effect the tracking.

My advice would be: check both side wishbone rubbers, if one side has collapsed the other is sure to be on it's way. Properly check all the steering and suspension, it doesn't make sense spending money on adjustments if other components are worn or broken.
Make sure the Camber is adjusted after the 4 bushes are replaced followed by the tracking.I would say castor as well but as long as nothing else is disturbed this is normally OK.

Toe in 2mm±3.5mm 0°20'±30'
Camber 0°±30'
Camber tolerance left to right. 1°
Castor 7°15'±15'
Castor tolerance left to right 1°
Toe out on turns @ 20° 1°10'±20'
