The France Passion scheme would for me be the only reason to have our own portaloo(as there are no facilities at stops). We prefer campsites even en route somewhere because of the quality of facilities, but the FP locations are so unique and the idea itself is magnificent. Were definitely considering this, even if just for quick stopovers.

i see theres an elec hook up on the second pic. I wonder how typical that is.

If you pick and choose your FP stops many have toilets and some have showers (which you may have to pay to use) otherwise use the loos and showers on the services (most have free customer showers if you ask) or use the facilities of a popular fast 'food' retailer

There was a hook-up at just 1 of the 5 we stopped on, I believe it was a couple of Euros ... we didn't need it anyway though again in the FP book it details what each place has.

The 2nd pic is of a cider farm near Montargis which is an hour or so south of Paris, the top is a Cote de l'Ardeche vineyard near Vallon Pont d'Arc and the sunset one is on a Cote de Provence vineyard in the hills above St.Tropez.

Its good that they go into that kind of detail so you can pick and chose. Reckon we'll stick with campsites rather than aires/services for showers etc....again France do this so well. With the minimum of research you can get really good quality showers/bathrooms at muni's and other campsites. I dont mind paying a bit.

The trick will be to mix some of the FP stops in with the longer campsite stays. The idea of skipping from vineyard to vineyard, with a cheesemaker thrown in somewhere is very tempting!

Definitely getting the book....cheers

Bon voyage and bienvenue en France guys, the camping facilities here are the best I have ever experienced and theres something to suit everyone. I just shared some oysters with a friend this lunchtime, mmh yummy with a lump of cheese some crackers and a glas of vin paysanne

Excellent!.. France is set up so well for camping, it leaves blighty stone cold in terms of variety and quality although Cornwall in May will hopefully be a goodun. Im a mussels addict so reckon we'll stopin Normandy a few nights on the way home from the Loire.

Cant wait to get out there. Like Ian says its just the sun we need now....and no breakdowns of course!
