We are thinking of booking our first camping trip in our T25.

We have come across St Ives Bay Holiday Park in Cornwall....

Has anybody ever been there and the big question is, can they recommend it???

Not stayed there, but you could check out reviews on ukcampsite.co.uk

It's a bit of a long way from anywhere other than the beach. Have a look at http://www.ayrholidaypark.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is right in the centre of St Ives or its sister site Trevalgan Farm (about a mile outside St Ives but with a free bus service). With either of these you would be able to leave the van on the site and walk into town.

Me,my partner and daughter stopped there last July and thought it was great! We got the weather though and that always helps!! We stopped right next to the sand dunes and my little one loved it!
The bar was a bit noisy with teenagers but then again maybe I was feeling a bit old!!
We would go back anytime.

If it's a beach holiday you're after then I could recommend Church Town Farm campsite, it's just up the road from the St Ives Campsite. it has direct access to the sand dunes, about 200 meters to the beach through the sanddunes, New toilet block free showers, free HOT outside wetsuit shower, shop and a pub in the village two minutes walk away see this link http://www.churchtownfarm.org.uk/

We have been there lots of times before and will be going again this year.

We stay at Ayr every easter for a few nights, then a few nights at Henry's at the Lizard. Ayr is pricey but a nice site. The big camping field is most relaxed, and has hook up. There is a great play area and the bathrooms are excessively lovely. Doesn't get too busy at easter either, though I'd imagine it'd be a bit hectic when it's full. The location is amazing though, St Ives is a lovely town with 4 great and very different beaches. It's really nice to be able to kick back and not drive for a few days, with so much in walking distance. I love the Hepworth sculpture garden.

St Ives Bay is fine, the beach is brilliant and you get some good surf if that's what you're into. It's quite commercial and remote altho not too far to go into Hayle where there's a brilliant pasty place.

Trevalgan at the top of St Ives is nice - smaller and a bit more camper rather than self catered static vans and chalets like St Ives Bay. It can be very very windy up there tho.

Gwithian is absolutely stunning as far as the beach goes and there's some great surf - the site is nice but I've not stayed there myself so can't comment too much. It's quite remote as the village is very small but there's a pub within spitting distance. The pitches are behind the dunes so it's fairly sheltered. It's hugely popular so you need to book WELL in advance.

We have just had a night at Ayr Holliday Park in St Lves. The view over the bay was fantastic, the facilities were great new or just been redone. We found a pub in the town that takes dogs so we had a good meal and good beer (The Union). We just turned up and were given the last hard standing pich. Some of the hills back to the site wear quite steep (One was 25%). We only stayed 1 night and didnt see anybody but we will be going again at the end of the season maybe.

We love Ayr. The next field along (past the play area) is even nicer, bit more chilled, and you can't see the statics. No hard standing but they give you big rubber things to drive on so you don't get stuck, and all pitches have hook up. The bathrooms are ridiculously smart aren't they? Not new, just really immaculate. The hills are a challenge (I took out my clutch on one 2 years ago) but worth it for the view. We'll be there this easter, good to know about the union taking dogs, we didn't have a dog last year!

Trevalgan used to be a fantastic site when it was owned by Jean & Melville Osborne. Since it was taken over by the people who have Ayr, things aren't quite as sharp. Eg the water pressure on the showers has been turned down to almost a trickle, whereas before it was plentiful; and the site isn't as tidy. Still, each to their own. On the plus side, it does have a regular bus service from the campsite to St Ives, which saves having to find parking space (almost impossible in St Ives in the summer!).

Hi to avoid the problem of parking we used the Park and Ride from Lelant Saltings (Just outside Hayle) train station to St Ives, I think it costs about £8 for parking and return train ticket for all of us. The train station is right on the beach once you get to St Ives.
