The thing my new van most desperately needs is new upholstery in the back.

It's been in garage for five years and the rock and roll bits are worn and musty. The rest of the interior - Holdsworth - is very dowdy.

So, long rerm plan is a light and summery interior. Cream / pastel / light wood, you get the idea.

However, it will get plenty of festival use. Fabric, I think, will mean me tiptoeing around it, so I'm thinking of getting vinyl done. Easy peasy to clean, much less fretting if it's a muddy one. My longest fest has me on site for nearly two weeks.

So! Anyone have a vinyl rock and roll and sleep on it? (I know kev did part fabric at the back, but I might want to sleep with head 'into' the van. So fabric at the back would only stop my legs being sweaty)

What's it like?

seen loads with vinyl just need to put a decent sheet over it and you should be fine!

I did mine in normal fabric and its been fine!

That's my thinking. For all my tenting years I've had plastic underneath me in some form, so figured - with a decent sheet/under-duvet - all would be fine.

Just wanted some reassurance before I sink the cash.

Most hotel, hospital & hire fleet caravan mattresses are vinyl on the top below the bed sheet for obvious reasons so it shouldn'y be a problem.

I have vinyl and i have a bed protector type sheet under the fitted sheet. With this on, you dont notice the vinyl.

With just a fitted sheet on, it feels horrible.

Thanks Ringo, I was planning to do the same.

I'm wary of making expensive mistakes, so that's very reassuring. At home I prefer firmer mattresses, so all in all vinyl is looking like a go-er.

Mine is vinyl

No problems, as I sleep in a sleeping bag

some folk like the feel of vinyl or rubber or,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

If your having them made up why dont you do vinyl one side and fabric the other?? ive done that on both my buses and its worth the hassle imho to turn the cushions when you make the bed up
