I am looking into buying a cycle carrier for my t25. The fiamma ones seem well built but expensive at £160+
Apparently the Link below for the Halfords one fit!!! is this so? are they any good?
Is it worth paying the extra for a fiamma ones.

Your help would be much appreciated

I have a 2nd hand Fiamma carrier. I got it from here about 4 years ago and cost me £60. I have seen a few new ones on Ebay on BIN for £80 recently. Just keep your eyes peeled.
I love it and once the bikes are on and locked to the carrier not even Geoff Capes would consider trying to lift it off.
Post a wanted on here and the Brick yard maybe and see what comes up

Very, very hard - I've not seen 'em below £150ish, at which I'd rather buy off a "real" seller.

The Fiamma rack is a great bit of kit, and well worth the money in my opinion. Ours has transported two bikes about 20000 miles since we got it, with no troubles at all. Nice and quick to load and unload, too.

usually they are real sellers. the cheaper ones were bankrupt stock or something like that.

Ah. Well, if you see another at that money, drop me a PM - sharpish... <grin>

I have one of those, I bought it for the car as it had good reviews, I have used it a fair bit, it does the job; but it needs its straps re-tightening every 150 miles or so, and the straps and clips have worn the paintwork on the car; put a bit of tape over if you care about your paintwork.
I would save your pennies and get the fiamma one,

I have a halfords one that came with the van when I bought it - its got the same kind of fitment to attach it to the van but has the channels to put the bike wheels in like the fiamma racks.....works a treat & if I need to I can use it on the car or Nige can use it on his van

£60
Bits missing can be found at
http://www.fiammastore.com/Spares_Searc ... VW_T3_T25_
According to auction parts are 98656-466 x2 £8.99 each and 98656-153 x2 £3.99 each
I'd recommend getting a 98656-378 for £5.99 (shown on T5 rack but not T25 for some reason) too as it keeps the rack together when folded up and not in use
Can't remember if it's near you or not but if not I'm sure someone else will make use of the info

Word of warning: I've heared that the French Police do not like cycle carriers that hang onto the vehicle with straps. If they see them they pull you over and CUT THE STRAPS! Only a problem if going over there of course but do they know something we don't?
Try

Sounds like another old wive's tale to me, who told you that ?
Just buy the proper thing and have done with it. As with all things VW and camping if you can't afford to do it properly then don't do it at all.

just bought a 2nd hand fiamma 3 bike rack , modded it to carry a 4th bike ... all worked very well , bikes strapped down well. all the way to devon and back no problems
(apart from raining and not using them ! LOL )
fitted perfect , allthough my rusty tailgate needs replacing :

Hi 16vmini,
How did you mod the rack to take the 4th bike? I've been thinking of doing the same thing but couldn't figure out how to do it without adding some more metal tube.
