I've been told that the exhaust on my '86 DG 1.9 is the older version and so is wrong for its year (back box has side entrances.instead of one end )
because of this the power out put may be affected ...true?

If its in good nick, dont bother swapping it.. if its ropey and you want to put it back to the correct system, then you better find the other brackets that the later system needs too.. they will have been removed and binned.. some are VW only parts!!

well the box is shot i.e. very noisy but the headers are still ok. may get a cheap box for now until the headers go.
would VW inform me of required bracketry?
approximately what would the loss be 5..10 bhp?
At nearly 2 tonnes laden and towing I could do with a little help
