OK I get a Ign light glow when ticking over.
goes dimmer to some extent when revs are up and flickers.. some times goes out altogether
fitted a new brush pack last year
all the contacts are bright on the alt
belt is tight
I'm suspecting the brush pack but I'm not sure

I got that happening and my headlights randomly flicking dim / bright and that turned out to be the brush pack. In true 1664 'hands on' technical style I just ignored it until the battery went totally flat and the van died on Coventry's ringroad - then I bought a pack.......

Right after another clean up and tightening stuff.
I now have a faint glow at tickover which disappears once revved

check the resistance on the warning wire and on the feed upto the battery if there not allowing nice low resistance they could be to fault?

cracked alternator mount ? they do go and then you get a poor earth as the alternator squirms and lo and behold dim alternator warning light that generally goes with revs but not always
