rebending engine protection bars what angle ?

Due to playing with the big boys with the syncro and banging it off a few rocks underneath I think I may have bent the engine protection bars up a bit as well as bending a prop protection bar and also putting a fairly sizeable dent in a metal plate that protected the gearbox glad it was there (will post some pics just to get you all worried ) . Have removed the gearbox protection plate as was rattling a lot but seem to have a bit of rubbing on the sump protection plate and thus vibrations, does anyone know what angle they were originally bent at also the best way of bending them back (was thinking about driving the van over them ) I know Silverbullet has a fly press and has done this before but a bit far away from Ireland any help much appreciated Oh its a diesel Paul

you need more force than the vehicle can make through one wheel - you need to get them in a press generally to get them back into shape without distorting them as the bolt holes have to line up and you need lots of room around the press to get the press points right

someone who has a mint set should make a jig off them for repair purposes before all the straight ones are gone - all mine are kinky

failing that just need the floor of a van and a set of engine bars petrol and diesel to make a jig

Kinky bars !!!!!!!!

The rear protection bars on my 2.1 wasserboxer Ambulance don't appear to have had a hard life, obviously its only when they are unbolted could they be checked for true, ie will they line up perfectly with all the correct holes, but first impressions are that there is no impact damage.

Maybe there is a diesel out there that hasn't been used off road ??

Paul, Ill be dropping the ones off the White Syncro so you can have a look at them or use them as a template.

Thanks Andrew does that mean your getting your finger out?
Just put in a bracket I made up before for precisely the same thing

Pic of before note the slope up to the right and distance between the engine mounting bracket and bar
