Had a little play around with a syncro spring (that still had one pigtail) and helical machining cycle:

It's only a scrap nylon blank, but for a try-out the fit on the spring is about right.
We'll be offering these in various thicknesses to order fairly soon; plastic or alloy (metal will be dearer, the plastic will be more than durable enough considering the standard urethane spring seats that last about 20 years)
For non-standard taper-wound springs like VanCafe we will have to machine them to suit for the first customer (unless I go and buy a set...unlikely for the foreseeable future!)

i could loan you the seikle spring so you could match that too, what sort of thickness are you gonna be making then form, asking as the back of the van has gained alot of weight in the past few days

What's wrong with nylon chopping boards?

I use stable matting from your local 'Countrywide' store. The material is the same as what VW used for the original rear spacer. An 8' x 4' sheet of 20mm thickness was about £40. I've got enough here to last my lifetime and my sons!!!

Thanks Neil, whatever people want really. I did it to prove to myself that they can be done without too much hassle; with the correct tools and training of course

Nothing Doug! One for fish, one for red meat, one for veg, one for poultry...don't quite see the connection between suspension and catering hygene though?

i like them. may be a good idea to make say a 20mm seat and then 10mm spacers that could be added to suit depending on how daftly high one was aiming for.

Toomanytoys has pointed out to me that they should, of course, have a taper machined on the swingarm contact face to help correct the seating angle and prevent spring tail failures. Can do, not a problem.
Happy to do this to existing spacers and also machine the groove, if yours don't have them.
Just wire brush them first, ta

Or a die grinder and skill, well they do say imitation is the best form of flattery will try and do a drawing of the van cafe springs and spacers for you Ian They are the ones on diesel Syncros have the right angle for that lift but also have locating pins on the bottoms so they sit correctly on the swing arms

I have a brand new set of the 16" factory alloy spacers somewhere.. they are a lot thinner mind..

Yes it would if that bottom seat is on a pivot. What is the spring off?

You dont want anything thicker than 10mm on bottom as the spring locater is short. All spacing must be done at the top unless using the original diesel spacers
or 16 with wheel carrier spacers.
