hi guys, dragging the clan kicking and screaming up around the peak district after sunday at dubfreeze and was hoping for some pointers as to where to go and where not to go will probally do a night or to free and the same on site somewhere. any tips greatly apprieciated thanks lee.

Cromford canal, busy in the day with walkers, dead at night. Don't mind the poo factory. You can't smell or see it

Not anymore, I believe if the old guy's there in the Bedford you're ok, otherwise you're not. He's been turning up every year since Victoria was on the throne and the council turn a semi-official blind eye. "Too many gin palaces blocked the whole carpark and wouldn't move for the coaches" who's carpark it really is was the excuse we were given last time we enquired.

Edale has a good site with 2 pubs/food within walking distance

Having just moved out of the Peaks I'd advise to head towards the north and keep away from Matlock. You can park at Grindleford Station at the bottom of the hill. The guy opens up the cafe at about 8am and you can get breakfast. There's a car park with toilets in Eyam which is quiet. Birchover and Youlgreave are good and near to Bakewell. There's a nice site on the way out of Bakewell towards Buxton and there's a campsite in Hope. The Peaks are beautiful, my advice is go and have a drive about. The scenary is awesome and there are loads of little lanes you can pull up in for the night. If you get really stuck I'm in Dronfield just outside the Peaks and you can park on my drive.

thanks andrew thats good info and a very kind offer. goes without saying that offers returned if your ever down my way. just hopeing for reasonable weather now.

Was at Matlock Bath today and spotted an Bedford camper in the carpark at the station.....was thinking Max and Paddy were there

He's in his 80's and his missus is disabled, he parks up for weeks at a time in the top right hand corner under the trees and he helps the wardens and chats to the tourists and coach drivers.

He's a lovely old guy but the girls found him a bit creepy ... he gives out sweets to kids which is harmless in itself but 'misunderstood' these days Wouldn't mind knowing who/where he gets his ancient A series Bedford tested

Welcome to the Club.. .Dronfield Woodhouse was where I grew up until the family moved over to Macclesfield in 84..I used to live on Longcroft Road..Small world.
