more problems now with my van, the neadle suddenly started jumping around today whilst driving, then just dropped back to zero but has since been jumping about and reading correct speed.
just wondering if anyone knows what the problem is, I;m hoping that its just a new cable needed but afraid it could be worse. please help

Hi Matt, mine has the same problem(for 2 years) I know mine needs a cable. Its a "push on" fit at the back of the speedo but the white plastic push on bit is broken. Annoying but not crucial-yet. so you could check the cable connection first. hope this helps

The speedo cable is driven by a grease cap fitted on the left front wheel. The cable is only held on by a circlip so check this is still there first. Hubcaps can push on the end of the cable and pop off the circlip. Also the square end of the cable and the square slot in the cap are both prone to wear but can be bodged.

Hi Matty - mine had similar prob for a long time and slowly got worse till it stayed at zero all the time! Cable seemed fine, but I noticed the back panel of the speeedo itself had cracked a little around the edge (it's a clip-on type) so that when the cable was connected, it was pulling the back panel outwards(ie towards the front of the van) and dis-engaging the end of the cable from the mechanism inside.... Solution was a little application of superglue from the pound-shop and some gaffer tape as back-up. Has been fine now for 2-3 years! Good Luck! Mike
