To be honest it's difficult not to find fossils in Lyme Anywhere along the beach West of Lyme or back along to Charmouth - I think it's opened again now after the landfall.
Just use a bit of common sense with regards to hacking away at the foot of the cliffs, you'd be amazed how many folk think that's an ok thing to do.
It's a lovely part of the country, where are you staying?

we went to a good clean family site in Charmouth two years ago. on the right as you go through the village from Lyme. cant remember the name - but i think it had bay something in the title
iy had a small shop, a chip shop, and a bar, as well as a kids playgound and swimming pool. but still managed to be quiet
had hardstandings for campers and were fine about awnings too.

I went to school in Lyme Regis, a totally fantastic place for fossil collecting, I studied geology there. The town is divided into two. If you are coming from the Axminster direction head down Hunters Lodge, you'll go through Uplyme. Just follow the road down towards the old harbour, tourist information centre and musuem. The roads can be very narrow. The best beach is to the left of the musuem and theatre. You'll quite easily find fossils along there and is very popular. You'll be along the beach that heads towards Golden Cap, however be warned about the tides and walking too far!! You can walk quite far and this area can be prone to land slides (some houses fell off the cliffside many moons ago).
You could also visit Charmouth, there is a large car park right at the sea front. Then when you are on the beach head right towards Lyme. Again, be very careful of tide times.
Hope this helps, have a wonderful time, its a lovely place.

Hook farm is a great site. We stayed there last year & thought it one of the best sites we've been to.
It's small, only tents & campers, good loos/showers & shop. The site is terraced but with flat grassy pitches with most having good views.
The walk into Lyme Regis is through field, woodland & along streams. Just perfect.
You'll really enjoy yourselves there.

Best place ever for fossils.
You really would have a good time by going on a fossil tour with a local guide you can book or turn up at either the museum or one of the many fossil shops in Lyme.
We have done this a couple of times now and you learn so much in the 1 hr you spend with the guide, you go round in a group and they usually take you to the Ammonite graveyard which is to the right of the Cobb if you are facing the sea. Awesome.
Have a good trip.

x2 Trebormint...
Hook Farm is a nice site and the walk into Lyme along the brook is to be recomended. Means you dont have to fight for a parking space in town. As others say, anywhere along beach from Lyme to Charmouth is good for fossil hunting and when the signs say 'beware of falling rocks', here they really mean it.
Have a good one...
