Anyone had any experience of the quality or Alan Schofield door seals (cab and sliding door)

The tailgate seal I bought years ago was very good quality at half the price of a VW seal

The door seals seem to be cheaper than other places like JK, status vw and volkswagenemporium and I just wonered if that is reflected in the quality

Ask him - he;s very knowlegable and won't buy crap stuff.

I bought one a couple of years ago from them & found that it was too big - when I queried it with them they said that 'that's the way they come' and advised me to cut & glue it together; I've never been happy with it.

Check with them first to make sure that it is the one that fits

Most seals for cars all ways come to long so they can be trimmed to exact length required, use loctite 406 glue and it will be sound!

All sliding door seals are glued together, are they not?

I had no idea....I had assumed that as it was supplied in a complete 'loop' that it would fit - I suppose if you've never experienced fitting a sliding door seal before its a fair assumption!

I assume they are usually a complete loop, albeit glued at the factory

I have fitted all new seals but using ones from JK (I didn't read up on here first!) but the sliding door seal is a complete loop but it was too big on one side and had to be cut so it might be the same as the AS ones.

If you do buy one it's worth checking to see if it is too big because if it needs chopping then you will save yourself a whole bunch of time by not having to take the sliding door hinges off and then spend ages getting it to shut right. I decided to take the pain and do the job right and still ended up chopping it because it was too big

With ref sliding door, it takes 5 mins to remove no hinges need touching! Take off slider cover pull open door till roller in line with the dip in the channel, lift and pull roller out door comes away!

I tried that but it didn' work, the runner was too big to lift out, kept catching on the top lip but I may have been doing something wrong.

NO, as james says just lift it up with one hand and slip the seal over and drop it back on the runner, did mine in a layby as didnt have time to fit it after the repaint..

Did you line the middle bearing up with the cutout in the runner? Do that and it just lifts off
